Bunnies 2 Humans 1

If you read the entry about my garden, you know that I'm measuring success by how many plants I can keep from the local rabbits' mouths.

I thought I was one up on them when my dog attacked a rabbit the other day.  I won't go into the gory details, but that rabbit no longer exists.

I felt bad for the poor little rabbit.  It could've been Peter Rabbit or one of his sisters or brothers, you know.  I adore Beatrix Potter's gentle tone and style, and have dreamed of being like her.  So, I'm a little conflicted when I think of Squirrel Nutkin and Peter Rabbit as I send my dog running after both squirrels and rabbits in our back yard.  Then again, I never thought he'd catch one!

Yesterday, I got home from school and thought I saw seedlings emerging from the soil . . .  until I realized that's where my pepper plants had been!!  Some little critter ate my two pepper plants down to almost nothing.   I'm not happy about it (though I am happy I only got two plants!)

So, that sly little Peter Rabbit has two points, and I (my dog, actually) has one.
