Pumpkin Guts
Tomorrow, my class is leading chapel at our school. I used Liz Curtis Higgs' book The Pumpkin Parable. (If you decide to buy that book - which I recommend - go to my website and click through one of the CBD links, so I can get credit for referring you.)
I rewrote the text so that my whole class can be involved. I'm narrating. One student is pantomiming the part of the farmer. The other students are reading the scripture passages embedded throughout the book.
It should work out really well.
But, I still need to carve the pumpkin we're going to use. Nothing like procrastinating!
I'm going to shred orange paper for the pumpkin guts, so it's not quite so messy as the real thing. The "farmer" will pretend to cut the face (which will face him) then put a battery-powered light inside (to keep things safe.)
I hope the students think about our chapel message when they carve their own pumpkins this week.
