Good thing I'm in the cooking mood!
Since we're supposed to have a snow storm and bad roads today, I decided it would be a good day to cook. I asked my family what they would like to have for Christmas treats this year.
Holy cow!
I know what I'm doing all day.
I'll be making fudge, krumkake, sugar cookies, gingerbread, pecan pie, popcorn balls, cornflake wreaths, pfefferneuse, and more!
Each of the girls will take an active role in our baking festivities (or else I'll just make what I voted for.) Greg (DH) said he would become "Ingredient Guy." I told him I'd give him a cape, if he wanted. Basically, he's going to go grocery shopping at our little town store. They should have the basics. If not, then we'll skip those recipes, too, because I'm not running to La Crosse for a few ingredients.
Ingredient Guy would, though. He's a superhero.
Krumkake and Pfefferneuse need to be made from scratch. They are recipes from our grandparents. All the other stuff may have shortcuts. For example, we'll buy some of the dough. It's enough work to roll, cut out, and decorate the cookies.
I'd better log off and get cooking. I'll make a list, send out Ingredient Guy, and fire up the krumkake iron.
