Some of my New Year Goals

So, 2008 isn't exactly new any more.  I was setting my goals, working through the processes, and voila! I have a few now.  And, with some recent procrastination, I had to put other things ahead of this blog entry.  But, I've got it done now!  Mostly.

Remember, I'm telling you my goals to make them more concrete, to make me more accountable, to make me more likely to succeed, and maybe to get a little support (though, I'm truly not asking for that - no pressure.)  I'm not asking you to nag me, so don't even think about it.

Health goals:

1.  The "get healthier" goal of the past has worked in some ways, but I'm not a fit person or at my ideal weight. (But, my blood test results couldn't be much better!) This year I will reach my ideal weight by July 4. No, I'm not sharing the number, but I do have a specific weight written down.

2.  Unlike my husband who thinks runners look like they're being tortured, I've been admiring runners more and more. I want to be like them.  I don't know if it's physically possible, but it's worth a shot.  So, this year, I will be able to run a half hour straight by Labor Day. The only excuse for not getting to this goal is a doctor's excuse - no whiny, poor-me stuff.

Education goals:

1.  Attend at least one workshop or conference this year (writing or education-related - ideally, both.)

2.  Get my ham radio license in February. (This is part of my goal to become a geek.  How am I doing?)

School (work) goals:

1.  Direct the school musical.

2.  Assemble a devotion book in the next month.  (I'm sweating this one!)

3.  Organize the science fair and book fair.

4.  Get at least two students to submit their writing for publication.

Writing goals:

I have to focus this one more.  I've got a mission statement, but have gotten excited about way too many ideas.  I've got to weed them out and then go for it!  I'll post my writing goals later.  I may just go month-by-month on this one.

Next step:  Write down a goal sheet for each of the above goals.  Break it down into smaller tasks and deadlines.
