Are You FAT?

I don't know where this idea originated (I've searched!) but I like it!  For the first time, I want to be FAT!

Are you a FAT Christian?

Faithful - Are you faithful to your job, your spouse, your church?  Are you faithful to God? I Peter 4:10 says, "Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms."  What gifts has God given you?  Do you use them to serve others, to faithfully administer God's grace, to share God's love and law with others?

Available - Matthew 28:18-20 gives us a very clear command.  It is not just for Jesus's disciples of that time, but for all time.  "Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.'"  Are you available to do what Christ has commanded?  Or, have you made some excuses to get you out of the commitment?  Maybe your work schedule is too full, or your kids have soccer, or you are just too busy.  Those things may be true, but they shouldn't be excuses to not serve God, to not pray, to not study His Word.  Make yourself available to God and you will find that He uses you in amazing ways.  He will strengthen your faith and help you follow His will - unless you're too busy.

Teachable - Do you say what the Psalmist says in Psalm 25:4, "Show me your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths"?  Or do you say, "I'm too busy to go to Bible study"?  Do you think you're an old dog who can't learn to witness, to usher, or to read aloud in church? Think about it. Do you really mean that God can't teach you?  You've certainly limited Him.  I think He's much more powerful than that! Do you really think you're too busy to learn more about God's Word?  This time you've limited yourself.  You've made it difficult to draw near to God.  You've limited the opportunities for spiritual growth.

If you strive to be faithful, available, and teachable, you will be amazed with what God does in your life.  He will strengthen you and make you a blessing to others.  And, you will see more of Him than you thought was possible.  Everywhere you look, you'll see opportunities to witness that you hadn't noticed before.  You'll feel like you've grown so much, just by becoming more aware of your faithfulness, availability, and teachability.
