Sourdough Brick

I made sourdough!

I would call it sourdough bread, because it looked like sourdough bread and smelled like sourdough bread.  It even tasted like sourdough bread.

But, due to my impatience, it didn't rise enough, so it was very dense - thus a sourdough brick.  My family ate some of it and enjoyed it (really, I don't think they were lying to me!) I threw away the remainder this morning, because it had dried out and seemed exceptionally dense.

I still consider it a success, though, because I made the starter myself just a few days ago. I fed the starter, smelled it, watched the bubbles rise, etc.  I loved the taste of the sourdough bread!  It tasted more sour than stuff I've bought in the store.  Success!

So, I'll just work on my breadmaking skills now, and we'll all get pleasantly full on sourdough this summer.
