Online Classes and Reading

I haven't been blogging lately, because I've been thinking a lot.

Yeah, it's dangerous.

I have kept myself busy, though.

I'm still reading my summer reading list.  I'm determined to finish it! I've found some new favorite books, like The Invention of Hugo Cabret and Hattie Big Sky! I'm also revisiting some old favorites, such as Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH and Little House in the Big Woods.

I'm getting writing done, too.  That's where some of my thinking has been focused.  I just finished up devotions for Concordia.  (One that I wrote isn't very devotional, but I'm sending it anyway. I have a back-up devotion in case the editor rejects it.)

I'm taking two online classes.  One is free, while the other is not. Here's a link to the freebie: AlphabetBook Adventure by Nancy Sanders. Start there, and then read the archives until you're caught up. You'll see that I occasionally ask questions.  Feel free to jump in now.  I'm sure Nancy wouldn't mind.

The other one is through Laura Salas.  Here's more info:  Writing Children's Non-fiction for the Educational Market.
I'm afraid you probably can't jump in to that class, but you could contact Laura about the next time she's offering it.  It's very good - lots of resources!

And, my mind once again starts dreaming of school. I've ordered some teacher materials to help me with reading class this year. I tried all sorts of different things last year, and just didn't seem to get through well. It's a challenging class - they don't respond to my usual approaches.  But, hey - I like a challenge!

And, of course, there's that ugly "call" business.  DH will decide soon.

In the meantime, I read . . . and write . . . and think . . .
