Teacher Tip Tuesday: Assignment Notebooks and Accountability
I'm a firm believer in making students use assignment notebooks starting in about third grade. It would be nice if all students used the same kind, so it's easier to check and explain how to use it. Many also have reference charts you can use in several classes. I thought it was difficult to find anything appropriate for elementary or middle schools in the regular stores. I found Daytimers and college planners (think lots of skinny lines!) but that was about it. They were not only not great for elementary students, but they were more expensive than others I've seen (that your school can order in bulk.)
Here are some you may want to sample. Bring them to your end-of-the-year staff meetings. Maybe other teachers are looking for more accountability in their students as well.
Success by Design is the one my class uses. I was able to choose a design with our school mascot. I like it!

I really like this one, too - a Lutheran Planner from Creative Communications
