Book recommendation: The Boy Who Changed the World by Andy Andrews
Another book recommendation today: The Boy Who Changed the World by Andy Andrews.
Where The Butterfly Effect is for adults, The Boy Who Changed the World has the same message for children. I love the illustrations and the storytelling, but as a children's writer, I question the target age group. It looks like something for very young children, but I'm not sure they would understand the timeline and how everyone effects everyone else. I actually prefer this book to The Butterfly Effect, because I love kids' books. I would recommend it for older picture book audiences. Even older elementary students would benefit and understand the message. It would give them something to think about, for sure. Young pre-readers will enjoy it, but may need to really focus on the last two pages, which show the connections between all the mini-stories in the book. I'm so glad it was explained in the end - it really helps wrap everything up. The book is very well made and illustrated. It would be great to see it used in classrooms. You could create a large timeline on the board and challenge students to think of other situations where someone's small actions had lasting consequences.
