Book Recommendation: The Butterfly Effect by Andy Andrews
I've got a special recommendation for you today.
I found a video to go with this book, so you can get a great preview. The video is at the end of this review.
The Butterfly Effect is based on the idea that everything you do matters. It's kind of the opposite of Don't Sweat the Small Stuff. When we think that we are ineffectual, that nothing we do really matters to anyone, this book gives us something to think about. It describes a few examples when small actions, things that people didn't think would make a huge difference lead to a domino-like effect which changed history.
You might think that this idea would make someone more anxious, thinking about every little thing you do, but instead, it is inspiring. It probably isn't for the egomaniac, but more for the regular person. For those of us who feel small in this big world, who feel like we have regular lives, regular jobs, nothing to celebrate — this book is for us. We may be inspired to live more purposefully and try to make small differences in our corners of the world, like ripples in a puddle. Our little actions just might influence others who will influence others.
