WIP

WIP stands for Work In Progress, a common term for writers.

My current works in progress are a middle grade historical fiction and a teacher reference book. I like to work on more than one thing at a time, to keep my mind fresh. If I get into a stuck spot at all on one (no, I don't call it writer's block. I'll save that for some time when I'm really stuck!) then I just pull out the other one and work on it for a while. It seems to work for my brain!

Middle grade: So, for the fictional piece, I keep putting it away because I don't know exactly where to go with it. It could be medieval (but I know lots of kids aren't reading that any more.) It could be mg or ya. It could even be fantasy instead of historical fiction. I have so many alternatives in mind that I keep second guessing where it is and where it should go. So, I know I just need to finish it. Then, I can decide to change the whole thing if I want.

Teacher resource: This one was in my brain years ago, and I got the approval from an editor to submit it, but then I never wrote it. So, I recently got a little kick in the behind to get going on it. It's time to stop thinking and start writing. I know it'll kind of write itself, if I just keep going.

That's where my WIP are for now.

I'll have some news about my upcoming published works (yes, there is more than one!) soon.
